Daylilies on the Cool Down Day

It was wonderfully cool here (high of 81) and overcast most of the day. It was perfect for watering, photographing, making seed crosses, and moving some plants. I must have taken about a hundred photos today. These were some of the best.

Carolina Pale Face only has two scapes this time that are 12 inches tall and have very few buds. Still, it has some pretty flowers.

Deeds Not Words had a poly today. I've had this one three years, and it finally bloomed. Its scapes are the registered height and it has plenty of buds.

Ehren Thomas is short but sweet.

Forever Redeemed

Green Mystique has normal height scapes but not many buds.

Sensational Heart - I wanted to show the nice branching this one has. I thought it looked pretty in front of the Spiderwort.

Ghost Gifts has more scapes coming!

Such A Blaze captivated my attention this morning.

Fully Charged ffo

Unbound had a pair of attractive flowers this morning. You can see the foliage is browning at a rapid rate now that we've gone almost three weeks without rain.

Debra, who is glad there were no signs of deer feasting today.

Deeds Not Words is really pretty, Sensational Heart has a nice height and look. Nice branching. I think your reds are grabbing my attention today. Green Mystique is the same here, mine may be a smidge shorter than normal, but much lower bud count.

Well, first things first-no deer activity!! There are so many pretty ones here! Such a Blaze is a gorgeous red. Deeds Not Words looks good. Fully Charged and well, all the rest are lookers too!!! Keepers all here.

I love your reds with watermarks! Carolina Pale Face always catches my eye. Deeds Not Words is a pretty bitone. Ghost Gifts is another that I like.

Good showing of Deeds Not Words. I think this is supposed to still be one of Floyd's best bicolors. Unfortunately, his hybridizing is history. I hope he is improving from his stroke. Carolina Pale Face certainly is disappointing.

Mantis - I did not know Floyd Boatwright had suffered a stroke. I'm so sorry to hear that. I've bought many daylilies from him over the years. Carolina Pale Face usually reblooms, so there may be more from it later.

Kate - I've gone three days without deer damage here, and I know I killed some thrips. I need to do more spraying tonight.

Nan - I do love those watermarked reds. While Sensational Heart has the best plant habit, I can't make up my mind whether I like Such A Blaze or Unbound as the most beautiful red I have.

Nancy and Kate - Thanks for your comments on Deeds Not Words. I'm sure will be taking more photos of it.

Sherry - Fully Charged is a new one that is not really fully charged yet. I think the color and edge will improve as it settles in a bit.

I see my photo of Ehren Thomas did not post for some reason. I'll try it again here.

Such a blaze, Inbound and EhranThomas are very pretty. such saturated colors.....Still having trouble with my computer, so can't comment as much as I'd like, but I am loving looking at everyone's posts...........Maryl

Maryl - Sorry you are having computer trouble. I am too. My 12-year-old Dell laptop is on its last legs. I just hope it makes it through the month. I've backed up everything on an external drive in anticipation of its death.

Such A Blaze is my red that is so sunfast. It was the prettiest red in the garden this morning. Ehren Thomas is sweet but short this time.

I do like Sensational Heart in front of the Spiderwort. I also like Forever Redeemed and Ehren Thomas.

We had a nice 1/2 inch or more rain yesterday and temps cooled to the low 70's from that with even lower humidity than we had before the rain.

Brad - I envy you getting that rain. We were supposed to get some yesterday afternoon, but it never materialized.
