People do report that they often have trouble putting a photo into new post. The solution is to do the new post then put the photo into a comment below your own post.

After taking a photo on my phone, I e-mail it to myself. Then I open the e-mail on my PC and download the photo. Then I post the photo to Garden Web. After posting the photo, I delete it from my PC and from my phone so I don't end up with zillions of garden photos taking up memory. It's a cumbersome process and I'm not an especially talented photographer so I don't do it often.

Ah, this sounds a brilliant idea Floral - I am going to try it out tomorrow.

I am an even worse photographer than tech user...imagination will be needed to overcome the blurry, off-centred, badly lit efforts. It's what I always do when I look at my plot - leave my normal specs at home and put on the special rose-tinted gardening glasses.

Many of my posts of the last several weeks contain apologies for bungled photos, lost photos, or sideways photos. Just keep trying. Remember if something really weird shows up in your post you can delete it. (/actually I'm not sure that's true if you are the OP. I know it is if you just make a comment)

A lot of us fumble, sigh and swear with Houzz's appartus. We've learned it's pretty useless so just don't say anything anymore. I will always, forever be sympathetic to the plight of the beginner.

I use the same process as cecily - take a photo with my phone, email it to myself, download and open on my computer, and post to GW. I really dislike using my phone for computer/internet related stuff - I need a big screen to read on lol - so I've never even attempted to open GW on my phone, never mind post a photo!

Yep, Dee, I feel quite thrilled to have managed to open GW on my phone. It all used to be so much simpler when I used my camera and uploaded everything to my old PC. Chromebooks are much less amenable for this and as for phones...well I generally use it as a phone and occasionally check the weather. I am always astounded at the number of people glued to a tiny screen in their hand...including my own offspring. Not at all certain I could send myself an email with it. Nor have I managed to transfer pics stored on my phone to the chromebook (although some of the difficulty relates to a former banning (campanula) and disallowed URL)

Haha cecily that thought never even crossed my mind! Although my son-in-law often teases me about leaving the 20th century and coming on over to the 21st! LOL. And yes, call me old, but I don't like the idea of cloud storage. My kids always say just upload your photos to the cloud! I like to have MY stuff on MY computer, not out in cyberspace somewhere. If that makes me sound paranoid or like an old fart, so be it lol!

Rosa, you are ahead of me. Opening GW on your phone, using a Chromebook - i wouldn't know what a Chromebook looked like if someone hit me over the head with it lol. I think our kids don't realize that, for a generation that had to heat their food on/in a stove (no microwaves), had to go to the movies or wait till it came on the "4:00 Movie" to see it (or heck, even for that matter, had to go to the VHS or even DVD store to rent one haha!), had to carry actual money with them, had to use a physical map and write down directions, had to memorize people's phone numbers, and had to find a pay phone if they were out and needed to make a call - well, I think we just don't need tech updates every year, we don't need the latest and greatest and easiest (hmm, laziest??) and coolest gadgets.

Cecily, make some room in that Luddite camp - I'm coming over lol!

I'm joining the luddite willing to learn club. I just can't function typing on my phone any longer. So I've dusted off my chromebook, sent myself photos and sit like a dummy looking at my email trying to figure out how to get a photo from there to here. Oh.....

download, the cloud.....too much for my drugged out brain now (I know TMI gabapenten for back pain) but even without that on board I'd be sitting staring....

Partially did it to Trees forum. But the photo is huge. 2 x bigger than iwhen I work on my phone and just move a photo from my photos to a forum.

O good for you, Marie. I had a brief flurry of interest then sank back into torpor...mind, I absolutely never have the means to take a photo when my plants are looking decent because the phone is down the sofa, has no charge, locked in truck and so on. It was pretty much the same when I was using a camera. Clearly, none of us here are of the selfie generation,

I was absolutely flabbergasted to see that 2 of my grand-children possess a phone which has a sort of fastening on the back to literally glue the phone to their hands!!!
