How well have you done playing Wordle?

I've enjoyed playing Wordle occasionally, but over a substantial period, for, having played 121 games, I've found the word 93% of the time.
Winning streaks: Current 1
Max 9
Number of guesses to find the word:
1 0
2 3
3 14
4 45
5 24
6 25
I've enjoyed playing Dordle and Quordle, too, but not for some time, as I don't know where I need go to find them.
Can someone tell me ...
... (if you'll pardon the expression) ...
... where to go?

Google them and you will find a link. There’s also Octordle and Foodle (food related words)

I can't remember a time that I didn't guess the Wordle word, it's easier some days though.

The one I liked disappeared. Heardle. It was music themed.

Some words are easier (lucky guesses) than others - like today. I do use pen and paper which I gather is taboo. But like today - I didn't have many consonants left and I have scribbles all over the paper until I find a word that fits with my confirmed letters.

My favorite is octordle. You do eight words but as you get words it helps with letters for the rest. They also have sequence where you do the eight one at a time in sequence. It usually gets easier as you do them and my personal fav is Rescue-they fill in the starter words which are hopelessly lame and you have to figure out the rest without your usual better starter words.

After a while you start to get a sense of the sorts of words they favor. When you have to choose between different words with one letter different that can help but it is just a game. I don't mind experimenting even if it means losing. No one is going to chop my fingers off. Sequence gives tons of chances even though to me it is easier and Rescue only one over and it is harder. Well!

I usually do Wordle every day and I have a 98% success rate. I've only missed a couple of times.

@Ally De, if there are too many possibilities, try posting a word that has as many of the possible letters in it to see which are the right ones/eliminate the wrong ones.

Someone I work with has found the word 360 days in a row! I have a 98% success rate, but my longest streak is 43 days.

    200 Played 99% Win

    Guess Distribution:

    1 - 0, 2 - 4, 3 - 42, 4 - 70, 5 - 58, 6 - 23

I enjoy it. I've actually played more than 200 games, but the the numbers above reflect games played on my desktop computer, the one I use most often. I used to play Octordle, etc. Fun, but they took up too much time. Now the only other one I play is Waffle.

The way I play Wordle has changed over time. I used to start with the same word and play words with different letters just to find ones that might apply. But at some point I started limiting my guesses to words that contained yellow and/or green letters (with the green ones in the proper spots). I also begin the game with whatever word appeals to me in the moment.

I play Wordle, Double Dordle, and Quordale almost every day. I post my results for Wordle and Quordle in the posts for them on "The Garden Party" forum. I usually manage to solve them, except occasionally when I have four letters in the correct places, but the fifth letter could be any one of several letters. Then I sometimes run out of guesses before I hit the right missing letter. I used to play the rest of the 'ordle' games, too (up to 32 boards in one game), but had to give some of them up, was spending way too much time on computer games! Plus, when there are that many boards involved it ends up being pretty much an "unscramble" game. But those are fun, too!

Allsande, thanks for the link to 'Waffle', that's a new one to me, I just tried it, and I think I'm going to like it. Just what I need, more games! ;^)

This is what today's stats show, but I think I've played more than the number they show. Who knows, I really don't try to keep track or count.

Congrats to those of you who had high levels of success.

I had Ally De's problem today - 4 yellows in the first word, the last four.

Second word three green - what was 3, 4 and 5 in the first word are now 2, 3 and 4, same sequence.

Third word, four green: no. 2 in first word now no. 5.

Fourth word, wrong choice at no. 1.

Fifth word decided to repeat letter in fourth position: WINNER!

    Still only 93% success.

Think I should try that waffle that Allisande suggested.

I play Wordle in the middle of the night or early morning. I’ve started Waffle, too, after dinner, and am enjoying that game. I can’t figure out the scoring, though.

My current streak would be longer but for some unknown reason, I apparently missed playing one day and ended it. I always start with the same opening word. The most popular being : ADIEU, but I always open with STARE. If you stick with the same popular words then you know you won't ever get it on the first try. But then again, I figure the odds of actually hitting it on the first try are so low, that I'd rather gain the info from using my favorite word. I'm always amazed at the percent of people who get it in 2. Stunning.

Getting Wordle on the first word is just luck - getting it on subsequent tries shows some skill.

When I posted that status, the word of the day was ”one of those” where any one od several letters would fill the first spot. I should guessed word containing as many of those letters as possible.

I agree it is mostly luck!

    My stats as of today.

My husband starts with the word ‘pizza’ almost every day, as it is the first 5 letter word that he says comes to mind. 🙄

He usually gets the correct answer in less than 4 tries.

I’ve only ever got an answer in one guess but that was on Canuckle. (pingo)

I change my word every day for Wordle but I use the same word for Canuckle (well I changed it since I got ’pingo’) and I’m onto a new one.

I stopped playing the English version so long ago that it no longer has a record of my stats.

I switched to the German and Italian versions, which I like better.

  • last year

I always start with "STARE" or "ASTER" as these contain the most common letters. Next is "QUOIN" which knocks off all the vowels plus the common "N". Then I think of words which eliminate as many consonants as possible, whether they have the right vowel/s or not. The goal is to eliminate consonants. Bonus if I use a vowel and it ends up in the right place. If there aren't enough vowels consider if the word might end in "Y".

Don't forget the less used letters or the possibility that one of the correct letters is either a double or is used again in the word.

I have a 97% success rate and often get it in 2.

The one time I got it on the first try, the word was lucky! HA! I thought, yep. Very lucky

  • last year

I run hot and cold with Wordle. I've gotten it in two a few times with a lucky first word which I vary. Mostly it's four tries. I missed a day recently which messed up my stats. The one that frustrates me is Connections. I don't win often but usually get some lines.

I usually used "swear" or "wares" as first word.

Haven't played in a long time, as I won't pay the NYT fee to participate.
