Thank you! It's in GF's mother's garden but her Mom is bedridden with memory loss so would be unable to ID it though back in the day she would've.

The plant is pollinated by flies so smells like rotting meat. Not something to plant close to doors or widows you like to open :-))

Mine bloomed every year. It is easy to confuse this with another aroid species, Amorphophallus konjac. Less cold tolerant, larger and blooms sporadically. Also has same common name.

I think I got a tiny one at Longwood two weeks ago. When I watered it, the remaining water smelled.

that is correct jrb, Dranunculus vulgaris produces flowers on top of stems with leaves, Amorphophallus produce flowers on thick leafless stems. The leaves of all Amorphophallus are produced alone on a single stem after the inflorescence has withered away.
