First time plant owner and grower here. I bought strawberry seeds that came in a pack of 5, only 4 of the seeds sprouted to having leaves, but I might have just killed 1 today.

While trying to move one of the sprouts from it's pot because it was yellowing (I was likely overwatering it) I accidentally detached it's root from the stem and leaves. I pulled the root out and it was almost a 3/4 inches in length even though the sprout itself was barely 1 cm tall, which the other sprouts' roots are not this long. I immediately planted both in the soil again.

My question: Can strawberries at this stage (sprouts + 3 leaves) continue to grow from its root without the stem/leaves? Or can the sprout keep growing from it's cut off root (the sprout still had some white on the bottom as it turned into a root). I want to know if this plant is worth trying to save or if it is a lost cause.
