I think they are noisier than standard drains. I had standard drains before and put in linear in all showers in our new house. If you have enough volume to fill the drain trough completely, usually with 2 fixtures running, then it doesn't make as much noise. Just one fixture running isn't enough volume and has the drain doing a lot of those gurgling noises. I think the trough also acts as an echo chamber or just amplifies the sound.

One of those things I never read a complaint about before choosing the linear drains!

Thanks @Chispa is it as loud as the video though?

This noise just feels out of control.

It sounds to me like it has a long drop before it hits the trap - and that it's not running down the side but dropping into the trap from of the middle of the pipe.

I bet you could put a baffle in there so the water hit the side of the pipe instead of dropping into the trap from the center of the pipe.

I have linear drains in two bathrooms that replaced conventional drains when I remodeled. Neither one makes any unusual noise, or sounds different from what was originally there. The noise in your video is a result of an installation issue, probably relating to the drop to the trap (as Jake described above).

I have never heard our linear drain make any noise
