Canadel? Like the table and 6 chairs that are in my kitchen? That the table was refinished and the chairs had tall railings on the backs cut down in 2014? I can't say enough good things aout the company. Table & chairs were bought mid 1990's and when the woodwork was beat up after all-day-every-day use from family of 5 I couldnt find anything else nicer so I had the set refinished and reworked. The table top and two leafs are laminate but the other parts are solid wood.

Thank you! Yes, I am wondering more about how their furniture is made now. I know it used to be made very well. I've heard it's still made well by some people, but then I've also come across reviews about the finish on the tables not holding up to everyday use, scratching easily, leaving marks all over, etc. I don't plan to baby this table like we do with our dining room table, but for the price of these tables I want to make sure it is good quality and worth the investment. I've been wanting a new kitchen table for years.

Can’t comment on its quality, but I have had a similar table (with cream chairs) for years. Quality is important, but realize that any wood surface with the usage you describe will incur scratches. It’s not hard to refinish down the road, but recommend protecting from heat.

Yes, definitely. We will have to get into the habit of using placemats under our plates, bowls and glasses. We don't generally put anything hot on the table (we serve from the stove), but when we do we use hot pads. The kitchen table we have now I bought used from someone on Marketplace. It is from Bassett and the guy I bought it from told they paid a few thousand for it. It's cherry wood and dents and scratches so easily - so I want something that is not as soft and will hold up better.

When I was in the fruniture retail business this company was in Quebec Canada where a ton of furniture makers were. The company had a great reputation I see now they do not say Canadian made only made in NA so not sure where that is probaly mor ein Mexico, If the company follows their old business practices they were awesome .

I have had a Canadel tabie and four chairs for more than 20 years. The set still looks brand new.

I have a round Canadel table and 6 chairs and they are about 20 years old, and have held up very well. There are marks from when my kids were young and did homework, drawing, crafts, one kid tried hammering something on it so there is a permanent blow mark (a table of lesser quality would have been more damaged), but that to me is just a table well loved and well used. It still looks nice.

I just don't know if Canadel is the same quality now as from then. I am only saying this because so many companies that made things well 20+ years ago are not the same. So you should carefully check out the tables on display and see what you think.

Like others, I can't speak to current quality, but also have a table and chairs I purchased 20+ years ago, as does another family member, and both still look fantastic and have held up wonderfully.

I like the table better with black chairs…the white just doesn’t have the same impact..

If you agree ..they can be painted easily…by an unorthodox bet very durable technique…using spray paint in a can…which has a high glue content in the formula…which makes it almost impossible to scratch off the color….in this case a real problem with dining chairs to be used in the way you intend..with kids, lots of activity,all kinds of wear…

We are on our second Canandel custom table in just 5 1/2 years. the first one we had one of the legs actually broke off. we purchased it through Jordans furniture store in NH and after sending out a tech who alao could not repair the leg we were forces to get a whole new one made. They only covered part of the cost. The replacement we ordered seemed fine at first until we had a glass cut to olace on the top to protect it. The top of this one is so badly warped that we cant get the glass to stay in place. They only offer a 1 year warrenty and at the price we paid for the set i would never recommend them

Verybad experience with my dining room table that was used in a second home. not much use but after 10 years the legs on the base came apart. luckily nobody was hurt. i was in touch many times with customer service and told after that long they can’t/won’t do anything. seem to have read how their furniture couldd be handed down from generation to generation, false! they told me how to secure the legs. needless to say it cost me over $200 to fix their poor craftmanship on a very expensive table! never would i recommend them!

We bought our Canadel kitchen set at Stickley, almost 6 years ago. Very well-made. Its held up great. No issues.

I loved my set until it collapsed. the legs pulled away from the base. i don’t care how old it is,legs just don’t come off. this was used in a second home so not much use. it would have helped if their customer service took a little more concern. they directed me on how to put it back together. horrible service for such a large company

Canandel moved manufacturing to an unlisted facility in North Carolina beginning in 2010. Design and administration remain in Quebec. I'd talk to the people at All Brands - Lexington Furniture a dealer about comparative products.

Idid love mine until the legs at the base came apart and the whole table almost collapsed on us. it was maybe 8-9 years old and used in a second home,not much use. they did absolutely nothing for me,so much for handing it down to other generations as they stated. it cost ne a couple of hundred of dollars to fix it!!! never would i buy their product again or recommend it!!!

I got my set maybe 15 years ago. Iove the style, but the finish they put on it is terrible. Any wet mark on it turns white. I clean the table and it looks like stain is coming of in little chunks. I had always had a table cloth over it to keep it nice and now just use a table runner and placemats, but the finish is just bad. I also got cloth chairs and they tip over very easily and have been damaged beause of that. Looks like and holds up but the finish on it gets white and hazy very quickly. Looking in to a new set from somewhere different.

Complete Garbage. After roughy 4years my dining table began splitting. I reached out to Canadel and they made some excuse saying they fully reviewed my case and said it was a result of dry air in my house. This assessment was done without anyone coming to my home to inspect. I tried to explain that my home has adequate humidity and this was either an issue of the wood not being treated properly during the manufacturing process, or the screws were too tight under the table not allowing for natural movement or play. They dismissed my claims and said they did a thourough review (without even coming to my house to check). I have many other pices of wood furniture in my home and never had any crack or split. This table was the very first for me after 20 years living in the same home. I am deeply disapointed with the quality of wood and customer service of this company and would NEVER ever buy anything else from this company again. Good luck if you buy something from them!
