Why do you feel that something is needed above the artwork?

I love the art hung on the wall color you have. I agree that it is a little too long to work as well as it could over the sofa, but since you probably love it and will be using it, I would remove the clock (you don't really need anything above the art), and hang the art just a TINY bit higher. Like 2" or 3".

What might work great on your wall would be a gallery of things so you could use the art in a grouping and not just lined up over the couch. It's the fact that it's longer than the sofa which makes it not quite right size-wise.

Another thing that might work, depending on the rest of the room, would be to move the sofa to the right toward the door and flip the other couch to the left side. It would then form an L against the wall and the art could be centered over that arrangement of 2 couches (kind of like a sectional would look).

Removing the clock from above the piece of artwork is needed. The artwork itself seems longer than the loveseat, so it might work well somewhere else. As for the blank space beside the loveseat, a plant would look great there.

Use normal room height when decorating. So in your home use the door height as a frame of reference - no more than 10-12" higher than that
