The biggest way to refresh and update a wood cabin is with white walls. We did it and it's fantastic. We have a lot of knotty pine and dark brown beams. The walls were gold or blue or beige...when we went all white what a transformation.

The wood is still there, we chose a soft off-white for any sheetrock and the space feels open, serene and balanced...almost monastic. The white is a good backdrop for the wood and for art.

Ours is Swiss Coffee...a nice warm white without any yellow or odd undertone.
