Where is the sample board ? What is it called? Make the builder show you his order.

The brick supplier can verify the type(s) and quantities of brick and mortar supplied to your job site.

You need to verify if correct brick was delivered. Next time, if possible, it is good to check when things are delivered if it's what you wanted before they start applying. It's advice from somebody who recently built a house.

Hi! I looked at a pallet that was at another home next to mine and theirs looked more yellow as well. The bricks were named the same as the ones i ordered but they look nothing like them. It looks as if the company that makes the bricks changed the color but kept the name. Here is the sample.

When I was building a house, I made sure that my builder took the sample of my driveway paver into the supplier to (special) order it. He did, but still somehow the wrong color was put on the purchase order and he signed it!
Wrong materials,of course, were delivered a month later — check the purchase order with the supplier and then see what was actually delivered. If you can pinpoint when the error occurred , if there was one, you can figure out who you need to put the pressure on for a fair resolution. I would stop the work until you straighten this out and get what you want.

Call the manufacturer and ask if something changed

There is such a thing as batch variation on a V5 option like that.

Did you only look at that sample board inside in artificial light?

Samples should always be taken to the actual building site.

Agree that looks like a totally different brick. There's SO MUCH more variation - even within the same brick. It's almost like the base color of the brick is a cream / yellow and it's showing through on yours but better coverage on the same board and other house.

On the reference house - each brick has subtle variations and maybe 2 different colors and the change is not abrupt. But on your house - the idividual brick can have 3-4 colors in it, with major contrast.

I don't know how this look is achieved in the manufacturing process, but something appears to have changed here. I would not be pleased.

yes. its totally different. plus, i am not sure if my shutters and doors would match that. everything is black.

Did you see multiple bricks to see the natural variation of the brick colors and patterns.

Similar to granite and quartz and marble for your countertops, you want to see the actual slab and not rely on one sample.

Really, unless an ordering mistake, not much you can do, but paint.

Might have been great to order a small SAMPLE LOT of the current lot they were shipping. Too late now.

Did you go to the site when the brick started going on? Thinking not as perhaps a distance away? In that case, pictures in order when they begin.

You need to get your contract out and see what you ordered then check the boxes that are at your house to compare that is the only way you can find out if they made a mistake . As for the black shutters they will work but maybe if they screwed up a big discout will make it easier to live with

Maybe try to get a discount and use to paint or treat the brick to tone down the yellow? If that is a possibility might be worth asking. Good luck!

It may look different to you. I happen to like this house a lot with what looks to B.M. Kendall Charcoal for the trim. I find it refreshing and not the same ole, same ole. And don't dismiss the fact there is no landscaping, just the yellow tone dirt.

Strongly suggest the paint color for trim to pull out the gray in the brick. The yellow windows aren't helping.

Wow, Naomi. I agree with you that those aren’t the same color and pattern as your sample. I’m sorry this has happened. Personally, I could live with this brick, but only if there was a discount or other considerations given. Maybe some upgrades elsewhere. To me, those are totally different bricks. I offer no advice on what to do, but hopefully you’ll get what you ordered. Please keep us updated.

It sounds like the bricks you see on pallets at your neighbor's site haven't been installed yet. Do him a favor and inform him of the color shift. If he agrees he can have his supply returned because it doesn't conform to the sample. This'll strengthen your dispute position.

Update: My realtor spoke with the builder rep who initially said that the colors vary. but thankfully i took pictures of the options i chose at my color appointment and those bricks are not close to what i was promised. a project manager is going out wednesday to look at my bricks and my neighbors pallet. they believe the company changed the color scheme for the bricks without informing the builder or possibly discontinued the color and sent what was available.

Naomi, hopefully that will take care of things. I completely agree all that yellow is not what you chose.

If you can get a hold of that sample in your photo and run it down to your house and neighbors house, it should be easy to see if there are differences.

My stucco was much more yellow than the cream sample they supplied, so they redid. I realize that’s easier to do than bricks but you ought to get what you ordered

UPDATE!

So they agreed with my complaint and they are gonna come up with some plans by next week. She said one option is to start all over. But they are looking into other options. As for the home across from me that had the same pallet of bricks, they stopped building on that one until they talk to the brick company. They said because my neighborhood is more upscale, the homes have to look a certain way and that’s definitely not the look they want. The project manager and builder rep apologized and told me to give them some time to sort it out.

I’m glad I brought attention to it.
