My kitchen remodel is starting in about a month. The fabricator already told me supports would be required for quartzite and our overhang in only 10”.

You need support for anything over 10".

How deep was the overhang supposed to be? I ask because counter height seating is most comfortable with a 15" overhang.

The initial plan had 16" stone overhang, but also had cabinet base at only 28". We expanded the cabinet space, and also pushed the cabinets outwards by a few inches and then reduced stone overhang to 12.5. Overall, it worked out good for the kitchen space and the new kitchen looks bigger. The fabricator comes from a trusted source and did a great job and had confirmed that no corbel support needed. Just was not sure if not having corbel support can cause issues later. Thanks for the inputs

And just as an FYI, corbels are pretty much useless. Use a granite bracket by Federal or similar.

Corbels are old school and are always ugly there are awesome steel suppots that are virtually invisible and that is what should have been done . Not sure how to handle this now probably some kind of steel bracket .

Thank You all for the information about corbels. Obviously did not know that. Since the countertop is installed now, are there any steel brackets that you recommend that we can look at maybe to install now. Hoping any low profile L shaped steel brackets that we can look at. Also, how many brackets may be needed.

No. They need to be let into the tops of the cabinets prior to the tops being installed.
