I’m looking at either cherry or maple flooring, with either wider or varied width planks. I’d prefer lighter in color. I’d like it to look aged, “footworn”, as I’m learning. I don’t have a lot of wiggle room on budget, so have been looking for less expensive treatments that achieve that look. Some of the photos below are actually white oak, which I’d dismissed until i saw it with that bleed.

1. is french bleed or black bleed a less expensive option than hand scraping, etc?
2. would that work for a lighter or natural color of wood?
3. what happens to the bleed effect if you eventually need to refinish the floor?
