If the plywood were even you'd leave it like that? I'm a little confused as to what you're trying to do.

Lauan or Luan plywood comes 1/8" to 1/4

@paul f im trying to finish the landing. Bought a piece of plywood just to see if it leveled the floor. Im looking for suggestions on how to finish it

Ok, still not sure if you plan to put something over it or if you're willing to walk on a plywood sheet. Can you skip the plywood and put down a somewhat matching thin vinyl plank flooring? This is my vinyl floor I'm currently putting in on my landing but I'm doing the reverse... working to make the real wood look more like the vinyl.

Likely, there are two layers of plywood on the landing. Check to see it that is the case.

If so, you can remove the top layer and work from there. Either nail down wood flooring or laminate or vinyl or carpet or even sheet vinyl. You can build up from the first layer of plywood with whatever thickness of plywood + finish flooring that gets to the height you need.
