ECM motors are expensive. I did a search and found prices ranging $650 - $750. If nothing else is being replaced or repaired then $1400 seems a bit pricey in my opinion.

Yes, they are, especially if they are variable speed. That's a top of the line Carrier Infinity but $1400 seems a little on the high side.
