If you see a blue undertone behind the rust, it’s not your eyesight. In addition to rust, there is staining from copper oxide. Bit of a train wreck.

@safelybuild Is that like the Mr Clean? I tried that, went through a a couple of them. Am I just meant to be rubbing dry?

Dry usually works well, maybe a leave a clear cleaning solution and let it (try) to penetrate and sit for an hour or so. Some stone is porus and some is not so maybe try to clean just half of it at a time so you see the progress.

And yes, Mr Clean is the best. You might want to try the procedure for a few days, I think it will fade away...

I think the rust has sunk below the surface. Scrubbing with the magic eraser seems to do no difference at this point. I might try again tomorrow with Iron Out spray

Your top is probably engineered stone. Keep trying different poultices please. Don't get abrasive or you'll trade a rust spot for a dull spot.

And Magic Erasers are actually sandpaper so be careful or as Joseph says, dull spots.

Any poultices other than TeRust you recommend?
I don’t mind dull spots actually, I think I’d prefer that to the rust stain. I’ve dulled it with all the I’ll advised nonsense I’ve thrown at this thing, so it can’t get too much worse.

I even tried sanding down a tiny little part of the darkest area, and while it made it rough, it did nothing to the stain.

I have used Clorox Cleaner w/ Bleach to get stains out of granite and quartz. Spray and let sit for about 5 minutes. Rinse a few times with water and dry. If it lightens the stain, then repeat a few more times.

Do you know what caused the stain? Did someone leave a can of paint sitting for a while?

I tried soft scrub with bleach, but it didn’t do anything. I read that bleach just makes rust worse so I didn’t try it again. I also went the other direction with ph and used vinegar (after cleaning the bleach off thoroughly), but that didn’t do it either.

Stain was caused by a copper plated caddy that sat on the counter for a few months, and somehow got wet without us realizing. :(

How about trying in some little spot toothpaste ( regular not gel one) ? Just apply and maybe damp microfiber , don't rub hard
