Sorry, not Mantis, and I don't really know the answer, but just wanted to say that I have several daylilies this year with lots of grass and no scapes (and a lot more with only one or two short weak scapes). Of those with no scapes one is a seedling which I believe is tender, but others have never skipped a year and I think it's something environmental but not sure what.

I'm not Mantis either, but I do have an opinion. When you have one that multiplies rapidly like that there was likely damage to fans coming out the top of the crown. Your plant made several smaller fans coming up from the bottom of the crowns in an attempt to survive. Those fans look very healthy to me. If I were you, I would leave them be and see what happens next year. I've had some do this over the years that lived and went on to flourish for decades. This plant is definitely not ready to call it quits.

Not Mantis, but I would agree with Debra. There must have been some damage to the top of the crown and the plant put out smaller fans from other parts of the crown in order to survive. I would not touch it this year.

I agree with Debra too. Several years ago we planted a large single fan of Rocky Mountain Sunrise. It didn't bloom the first year and the next year it was a bunch of small fans, none of which bloomed that year. We were not aware of any damage to the crown, but that must have been what happened. Since then it has been a huge clump (and it's been divided once) and is a blooming fool.

I see it's a dormant, but evergreens here sometimes multiply but never bloom well. It is frustrating when plants don't perform but take valuable space. I see it is a Nordstrom intro. You've seen the bloom before, so you will have to decide whether it's worth the space.
