What is the height? Has your footing been designed for the surcharge and overturning? What is the rebar like in the footing, 'L' or just vertical? Is the 10"c 3-4' leg describing a pilaster or sorta "deadmen?" Your drainage is incomplete, at least in description.

Max height 8’. Lateral and vertical on 1’ centers. I’m putting 1.5” pipe in 3’ centers at the bottom to drain it.

I was thinking the 8' was the short leg. Being 8' tall I would suggest a structural engineer. That would be a lot of concrete to fail. The footing is more than supporting vertical load, it helps resist overturning, as does a continuous bent rebar from the footing, not just verticals and horizontals providing tensile strength for each individual "plane." The through-wall PVC pipes I understand, but how you drain water the 2' below them, behind the wall (e.g. gravel drain plane), etc is what is important.

Most municipalities in the US require engineered input for any retaining wall over 4' and many have a cut off height for engineered drawings (and permits) at 3'. An 8' tall wall absolutely needs involvement of a structural engineer.

At 3 inches deep, you have a footer for a curb or a step, not a wall. And for sure not a retaining wall. If you have a frost line, you should foot in that deep, if you have a wall width, your footer should be at least that deep. You should also check with an engineer and your local codes.

What are you trying to retain? Is this a new build or a rebuild of an old wall? What are you planning on using for your wall material? Do you have local companies that could come out and let you know what you need and how much it would cost for such a build?

I don’t understand this app very well yet I was able to post three pictures of what I’ve done thus far in my folder called “Jays ideas”. For those who can figure out how to see that folder you’re looking at an overhead of the entire wall before I finished the rebar, a picture of the footer poured as it is now, and a picture of what the rebar looks in like in that footer.. the poured footer is 3 feet wide by 20+ inches deep.
