As you can see this 15+ year old clematis is refusing the go over the fence. But it loves to crawl on the ground. This winter I am considering to add additional wire mesh around the top of the fence to guide it over the fence but it will be clumsy. I have read that clips or velcro for the stems around the top may help. What would be the preferred method to address this problem. The photo is taken from the west, fence is facing east, it should have naturally gone over following early morning light. Thanks for any suggestions.
