last modified: 3 years ago

Blooms are smaller with the hot dry weather. The good viewing window is also much shorter.

Here are some that came up.

Wall of Fire

Twitch

Shattered Glass

Reign in Me --darker than I expected. Early blooms towards black (a positive)

Penguin's Prom

Party Pants

La Dolce Vita --an older Moldovan that can be quite colorful

Love Song

Jubilee Ball

Hooked on You --still under evaluation

Frieda Allen Jerrell

Deep Waters with Wall of Fire in background

Alice Lambertson

Gia's Wonder

Indy Long Legs

Fear Not better this year when many are not.

Free Wheelin --Sun slicks things quickly.

For Ever and For Always

Ashwood Dark Side

Stone Palace Swagger

Eye of Truth

Lavender Blue Planet

Velvet Hammer

Vampire Bat

That's

all.

So many gorgeous clumps! For Ever and For Always looks pretty good for an evergreen. My favorite flowers are Shattered Glass, Velvet Hammer and Freida Allen Jarrell.

I really like the color combo on Lavender Blue Planet, have a couple like this. I also like Jubilee Ball….I like the midrib and darker edge. Penguins Prom called to me….I’m always drawn to bitones and bicolors, wish I had more of them.

How has your Stone Palace Swagger performed for you? I have two Stone Palace, one is exceptional the other not great.

Swagger is in its first year in the garden, and so far, I am pleased. Changing the subject, I am finding Tyger River difficult, with blooms way low. What is your experience?

What a pretty collection you have going here.........Reign In Me is beautiful and on my long list. It looks like it has a white edge in your picture. How about in person?......Jubilee Ball is a pretty pink one from Bennett....I like your shot of Indy Long Legs and Eye of Truth. Must be a sight to see in person...... Velvet Hammer is another beauty............Maryl

Tyger River has never had low blooms here including this season, has been in the garden for close to 10 seasons. Bud count is lower this year. To be fair, it is not growing in the best place here. Foliage always look good.

    Mantis,

Of course I love Jubilee Ball. It is is my top 10 of Bennett's that I grow. I have been intrigued by Lavender Blue Planet for the past couple of years, I am curious to hear more about this plant from you. I would also agree with you that FEAR NOT is having its best year in my garden as well when compared to others.

So far, Stone Palace Swagger looks promising. It has bloomed for a long time, but this is just it's first year out of a pot. I have learned never to judge a daylily by one season--or two. And this season, some laggards have shone, while others have faltered.

For Ever has grown well. Bud count is modest, but not deplorable. Lavender Blue Planet in second season; no problems yet and good color.

Clumps are always striking. Forever and For Always is quite nice. I like Shattered Glass. Reign Me In looks to be a perfect bloom in that photo. Fear Not here had its worst year in a while. Height was fine, scapes were numerous but bud count was almost nonexistent. For the first time in years I did not even take a picture of it.

Bud count on Fear Not here not high, but taller than usual. Reign in Me has indeed been perfection.

It looks very lovely with all these photos. I like Vampire Bat. And Wall of Fire looks wonderful. Lavender Blue Planet is a beautiful bloom. As always, a lovely post.

Mantis, please put up another picture of your Playing With Crayons if you have one.

Frieda Allen Jerrell always impresses me. I love the color and style. Deep Waters and Wall of Fire make a great combo and each is excellent on its own. Reign In Me is beautiful. Love the dark color and the bright throat and the spokes of the eye.
