I agree that we need pictures. Whether you should paint the island a different color or not depends on a lot of factors, like the size of the kitchen, how many White Dove cabinets there are, the flooring, etc.

I would not paint the cabinets white. The stain wood works perfectly with your countertops. Leave is at the new appliances and be done!

I would replace the island counter and backsplash, and re-build the island base (add shelves, molding, etc) to make it a little more substantial. You could paint just the island.

Wood cabinets are popular once sgain. The cabinets are great. Leave them alone. You can replace the counters for less than having the cabinets professionally painted, and that is what you should do. The counters need to GO! Replace something lighter, with a lighter backsplash.

NO No no NO to painting cabinets. If you NEED to paint something then sure paint the island and leave the rest alone.

I agree. Your kitchen looks great. If you're dying to change something, change the backsplash to something lighter and brighter (but warm)--and that's nit-picking, because it works fine as is. With that light wood tone on your floor, I would not paint your cabinets White Dove (and I'm a White Dove kitchen girl, so that's saying something). The current floor and cabinets play perfectly together.

Think about a few important factors while renovating your kitchen. Upgrade your appliances to get better functioning. Replace or completely redo cabinets to give them a new look. Improve countertops to increase their sturdiness and aesthetic value. Finally, add new hardware and lighting fixtures to improve the overall appearance.

I agree, no, to painting the cabinets. I like the backsplash, but, dont like it with black counters. It would probably go better if the countertops were the same as the island one.
