I like your idea of repainting, the wall color does not flatter the fireplace. Your furniture looks Mission style. Is that the style you love? I'm not able to see the floor well, but it looks like a multi colored tile. If that is staying, it would be important to look at that as well as the fireplace to picking color. The first direction I would look is a blue family.

It looks like the flooring is terra cotta and blue tile? I'd paint the walls a more nuetral shade of white, or white with a hint of blue, and decorate the room with blues and browns.

The paint is throwing everything off, I would repaint and get a vertical art for above the fireplace. It’s hard to give any other ideas from the one picture.

So I would go with the flow here and paint the walls a very earth-connected color, like stone, clay, earth itself, to compliment not only the spirit of the firepace but the big wood pieces (I think your cat should sit on the left sideboard).

Style around the Art Deco look of the fireplace.

Okay, I'm not crazy about the blue with the fireplace.

Would you consider this color as part of your scheme? I antique rose works better with the warm brown tiles. The paint for the walls could be B.M. White Dune. It looks fine next to tiles on my monitor.

The fireplace is not Art Deco. It's not anything. It's just random square tiles that were installed around an opening, and the installation doesn't appear to be that good.

The FP would look better if the total wall bump out was the same material.

I grew up in LA so I call that fireplace Hollywood Aztec (as opposed to Hollywood Egyptian or Hollywood Regency).

I think the rose/clay color scheme is right but would caution against too much Deco or Nouveau or floral. Trees and rocks, yes. Flowers and glass..... hmmm, need to be careful with that Aztec fireplace.

Believe it or not, some Aztec decorative touches took their inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright's work in Hollywood. So if you want to lighten anything up in the house with glass, think more Wright than Deco.

Since your fireplace is reminiscent of a few styles, maybe search online and see which style of those you prefer, and go from there. I think painting the wall section around the fireplace to match one of the two brick colors would look nice.
