Here we have JBs, Stink Bugs, Cuke Beetles (both types), Flea Beetles, ants, and probably a couple of others but they aren't in great numbers, so far. Some bee keepers near by so those are around too. I found a Yellow Jacket nest the other day when I was mowing the lawn.....or rather it found me.,,,,,,,,,eta : Squash bugs and SVBs here too, I forgot about them since they killed all the squash over 2 weeks ago.

I haven't seen any JBs this year. They seem to have peaked around here 3-4 years ago. I'm getting good pollination on my summer squash without hand pollinating so the bees are doing their job. There are some squash bugs on the plants but they have not exploded in population like they usually do by late July. I haven't seen any horn worms so far either.

I haven't seen many bugs this year either. I was wondering why until I found an empty Mantis case. I haven't seen one, but I'm hoping they are in my garden happily eating bugs. (I haven't seen the resident grasshopper for awhile either. I'm hoping it became dinner. )

Thanks everyone. I totally forgot about Jap Beetles. I think I've only seen one awhile back. They're usually gone by August, so I guess we lucked out this year. We live in the woods and have tons of birds. I even have a house wren that lives in the swingset I use to grow squash and beans up.......so maybe that is what's keeping their numbers down.? As far as my Waltham butternut squash goes........It doesn't seem to be making many female flowers. Not sure why. There's lots of leaves, just only a few female flowers. I only have about 3 tiny squash. But fortunately, they can grow well into autumn. I DO fear that we've upset the balance of nature and don't know what to expect in the future. Good luck with your bugs. I'm just extremely grateful for them not being around my garden this year. Now all I have to worry about is the high winds and hail that we sometimes get this summer. If you're looking for earwigs, they are all at my house. This was my haul after a half hour of hunting them the other night. They are shredding my potatoes, zinnias and chard, Ruined a few heads of cauliflower and broccoli.
