Daylily blooms dwindling

Hot, no rain and waiting for a break in the weather. Just a couple of daylilies still opening. Final daylily to start blooming was Rouen Cathedral a few days ago. Obviously the excessive heat is impacting the color.

ROUEN CATHEDRAL - 3 scapes with one being short.

TAHITI SWEETIE - both plantings still blooming

ALLEGHENY SKYLINE - took a pic when the sun was under cloud cover.

I always enjoy seeing the watermark on it.

BOUNDLESS BEAUTY - still blooming but still a shortie.

and just some pics of the stone wall garden which has filled out nicely. Amazing how the bareroot perennials I got from van Bourgondien have done really well. Same with the very small biodegradable pots I got from Bluestone Perennials.

I've been trying to get a pic of the hummer which loves to feed on the Crocosmias by the patio area. I did get a butterfly on the purple beebalm.

Time to get get outside and check the veggie garden. Tomatoes are ripening fast.

Rouen Cathedral is so much darker for you than it is here. It was a very light pink here, and it usually always is. That shot of Alllegheny Skyline is so pretty! Tahiti Sweetie looks fabulous with the other perennials, and I love the stone wall garden. Nice butterfly shot too!

Tahiti Sweetie and Allegheny Skyline are so pretty! However, your plantings are the winners here. What gorgeous groupings. You have a great eye for colorl.

Your gardens are really taking shape, with well-formed stone walls and nice color contrast. I like the phlox planting and russet rudbeckia particularly. You had good bud count on Tahiti Sweetie this year.

Rouen Cathedral is very pretty. I too love the big watermark on Allegheny Skyline. Great looking perennials and I love your wall.

Hot and no rain here too, and very few butterflies. This one is so pretty!

1. I think I'm as interested in your beds/borders as much as in your daylilies. So much work has gone into your new garden. A nice assortment of summer plants most of them I've tried before, but out of all the myriad of plants I've tried I've never grown a tall Phlox. The spring groundcover Phloxes yes, but not the tall summer ones. They are very pretty in your garden. Do they get powdery mildew for you?.......Maryl

Wonderful pictures. I can't believe the wonderful beds. You've only been there about 2 years I think.

The Crocosmias is very beautiful and I love the butterfly on it.

I always enjoy seeing Tahiti Sweetie and Allegheny Skyline. Both so pretty.

I like your tall phlox. We have a purple tall phlox "laura' that we enjoy and it really spreads & blooms all summer. Do the other varieties smell wonderful? Ours smells like lilacs. Maryl, our phlox don't get any powdery mildew. They remain perfect in all weather. I got them on line but I don't recall where. We have some that were here when we moved here but they bloom sporadically and for a short season.

I love the perennials and the stone wall garden. Tahiti Sweetie looks wonderful. Allegheny Skyline is lovely. the perennials with the daylilies is always the making of pretty photos.
