Decorating long wall

I posted this question some time ago , but needed to post more pictures of the space

I need some advice how i can decorate a long wall, the wall above the brown chairs is empty and i dont have any idea what to put there since i already have a large art piece on the wall.

Should i remove whats currently there and do a gallery type to bring the spaces together ,any other ideas for the space would be welcomed

There is no rule that says a long wall can't have more than one piece of art you have 2 sitting areas so treat them like 2 areas and add more art .You also need to add some layers of lighting over head only is not a good plan

Paint the shoe molding around the fireplace a brown color that matches the floors or blends with brick color. Not sure why they even place it around the brick?

To right of my fireplace are stairs leading up to my kitchen

Is that an electric fireplace under your TV?? Why the 2 fireplaces in the same room? A lower longer console table with the TV lowered and the sofa pulled away from the corner and the tall plant on the other side with rug rotated would help that back area. It is a challenging room for sure! With a couple of tweaks as noted above it will be a great cozy space.

A floor lamp with some heft and volume to it (ie, not too skinny) could break up the long wall— not sure if it should go at the end of the sectional (to the left of the three pictures) or between the two chairs. An end table with a lamp at the opposite end of the sectional would provide lighting, a pop of color, and a place to set a drink. Also consider a small drinks table at end of sectional near chairs, but leave that to last, once you figure out placement for floor lamp. Maybe a small ottoman in front of the chairs, something with a chunky, textured fabric or a plaid to complement the weight of the leather chairs. You’re almost there, but those last finishing touches make all the difference!

A couple more thoughts— as tracefloyd suggested, move the two chairs closer to fireplace and place them facing each other, with ottoman between them. That would break up the line of furniture along that long wall. Place floor lamp at end/slightly behind sectional, and look for a large vertical wall hanging to center behind chairs and fireplace. Try to bring in some pattern to break up those big expanses of furniture and walls.

Thank yoo !1 im going to purchase a few items and see how they work , adding the vertical wall hanging between the chairs is a great idea - i just dont know what - i dont want it to compete with the art thats up there but dont want it to blend too much that it looks the same - im stuck on this

I’m an artist. There is more art than paintings Try a vertical art sculpture. Try Sedona or Haiti for some beautiful ones. Also ceramic tiles don’t compete with your paintings either. Try texture!

I’d pull those brown chairs away from the wall and put them facing each other. Define their space with an area rug. Find a tall slender cabinet placed between them for books and lighting. Currently, it looks like a waiting room. No offense.

I appreciate all the help , decorating is not my thing - so all of your comments are very helpful ; question for the vertical art sculptures , is sedona and Haiti the name of the vendor

Sedona is a city in Arizona. The sculptures there tend to be Native American themed but Sedona is a big art town so lots of styles. Haiti is a country in the Caribbean. Right now Haiti is a very unsafe place. However if you googled “ wall sculptures from Haiti … or Sedona” or even wall sculptures….you might find out whether or not you liked the idea! Good luck!

It could be a good idea to look at adding a rug under the two brown chairs as well, though a smaller rug. Then add a tall plant in between the sectional and brown chairs. Then add artwork between the two chairs which would relate well with the artwork over the sectional. Here are some ideas for you from a few of our client's homes.

Since the two brown chairs are in front of the fireplace, you might treat it as a separate space from the living room. You could try adding a small rug under the chairs and add artwork behind both chairs. See the artwork and fireplace design ideas here:
