Range specs question

I want to replace my existing range without changing stuff. The measurement labeled E on this schematic is around 25" on most ranges I've looked up. My range opening is only about 24.5" deep But there is about 6" of countertop behind it. So if E is the measurement to the wall, I'm fine, but if it's just to the back of the space, I don't have the 25" depth.

-is measurement E space from front countertop edge to wall or countertop edge to back of space?

-does it really matter if a range sticks out a bit (assuming proper aisle clearances and hood hangover and that the exposed sides aren't ugly)?

The depth is only really important if it's close enough to a corner for a corner cabinet's clearance to be affected. Most ranges stick out.

Thanks--I couldn't really see a reason to not have it stick out but was wondering if there might be something that hadn't occurred to me since the manufacturer is calling for a minimum of 25". A maximum of 25" would make sense to me so you don't scorch your cabinets by having the range tucked in too far.

The current range position is because the countertop guy thought it looked better there. 😛 At least I don't have scorched cabinets!
