I saw precisely one at an Indianapolis nursery early this spring, when i was in town. I thought it ridiculously overpriced for the size of the pot, so I passed on it.

I bought one but it was a small size plant, so I’m not getting any blooms on it this year.

It started shipping this year. Some people who order these very small cultivars commented of not getting blooms in year 1. unusual for a paniculata as they are typically shipped to be in bloom by the time they are put for sale by local nurseries. Maybe if ordered online via the likes of PW, etc. they skip blooms???

I was able to determine that it maybe available for my location (ON) later in September or more likely spring 2024.

(It lists as 3 feet by 3 feet but I am betting it will regularly grow larger than this.)

"betting it will regularly grow larger than this." - hee, hee, hee. That has never happened to me. KA BLUEY!!! Gee, where did that piece of lighning from the heavens come from??? ;o)))

I’ve not seen any at local nurseries yet. I’m not sure I like the early bloom color - looks more creamy green (like Little Lime), instead of a pure white, that matures to pink.

I agree @lovemycorgi z5b SE michigan, it does look like that from the PW picture but that doesnt jive with the flower colouring of other (larger) QFs..right ie no green tinge at all?

That’s true, Rouge, but Little Limelight isn’t pure white like regular Limelight either (I had thought they’d just be smaller versions of Limelight, and ended up very disappointed in the bloom color). So I’m not purchasing this one until I personally see it in bloom!!

Just curious@khan47, with now your "Tiny" in its second year in your garden...how is it looking?

It is an odd looking plant. Looks stunted to me. Flower buds are popping out already so it is an early bloomer.

Rouge, it is double in growth from the quart size I bought it in last year. No blooms on tiny quick fire here yet, but my little quick fire is just starting to bud. I’m in zone 6/Kansas.

So @khan47 can you envision getting to 3 feet by 3 feet when it is fully mature? I ask as I would like it on the larger advertised size (rather than on the small end).

I think so! I’ll share a photo this summer when it goes into bloom. The psychgarden on Instagram recently posted a reel that shows a tiny quick fire and it looks 3x3 to me.

I thought I might need more help to find the LQF you are referring to but I did get the right reel. Thank you very much for the heads up. This particular specimen does still look (lots?) less than 3 by 3. (Very pretty videos)

I’m terrible about estimating size so that’s fair lol.

Much appreciated @khan47 for the follow-up.

I did plant 2 earlier this summer and they have looked healthy ever since putting on new growth. (My two are more compact than yours. Lets circle back to this thread next season).

Hi! I was wondering how large your plants are and if they've filled out @rouge21_gw (CDN Z5b/6a)@khan47?

Hi there, here’s my tiny quick fire as of this week. I don’t feel like the photos do it justice. The blooms are so pretty and the plant itself is compact and full.

  • last year

I’ll try to remember to update with a new photo when the blooms are fully in for the summer!

I planted two TQF in 2024 and for whatever reason I wasn't expecting much but I have been impressed with what I see in this, their first full season in the garden. As @pennlake had mentioned it is a very early blooming paniculata. The blooms transition smoothly from white to pink to red to what I see now ie dark red. The picture shown below was taken this past week and as you can see, now soon to pass 2 months in bloom, these flowers still look very healthy.

It will be interesting to see how large these plants do get.

@khan47 and others, what have you seen this year re TQF?

  • last year

Rouge, your TQF is beautiful!! We had a heatwave shortly after I posted mine and it scorched the blooms, unfortunately . It’s such to a

Whoops, ignore that typo. It’s such a disappointment to see brown blooms the rest of summer. I know these paniculatas like the sun but maybe mine is getting too much sun? Or just not well established enough yet?
