@a2zmom, I think in front of the false cypress would be the perfect staging for it, flanked with Red Hot Pokers on either side. They will pop out and get the attention they deserve. Are those Canada Goldenrods?

That makes sense. Plus less fighting with the Solidago. Cultivar is Fireworks. Really pretty, but a spreader.

Yes, I agree - in front of the cypress...not least because 5 eremurus takes up a LOT of ground space. Each bulb (?) stretches over a foot across although you can interleave the roots to some extent. And they need sun.

@a2zmom_Z6_NJ, I thought you were growing Canada Goldenrod from the look of it. When they advertise fireworks, they show it as a single specimen, and I was lead to believe it was a well mannered goldenrod. I'm only growing non-rhizomatous species of Solidago and Oligoneuron. Some attractive species in that group are S. caesia, S. juncea, S. speciosa, S. drummondii, and O. rigida. My non-rhizomatous Oligoneuron alba/ Solidago ptarmicoides is getting ready to bloom. It's a beautiful, white flowered goldenrod that is the perfect size for a bedding plant, reaching about 2 ft. tall with a nice globe shape.
