How are you doing this without loosing a bedroom overall?

We currently have 5 bedrooms (we added one and did a deed restriction) but the house was purchased w 4 which we will still have. This is the smallest bedroom (proposed closet)

Sounds like a good idea, but I would want a wider shower for a master bathroom. A lot of floor space wasted in that new tub area and I would rather have some of it go towards making the shower a bit wider.

What is the property value differnce if you go from 5 to 4 bedroom, considering how much the extra bedroom cost initially?

I guess if its what makes you happy, its a decent plan, but it sounds like a ton of money to get a bathtub.

My first thought is, if this is your forever home, or resell value isn't a huge priority, go for it!

Second thought - to simplify - could the tub possibly fit into the shower area to the right of the plan? If you could live with a smaller tub, and even if you have to reconfigure vanities, it seems possible. Would save a lot of headache (and maybe loss of amenity count).

Yes forever home! The existing bath is already in place and relatively new so I prefer not to mess with that. I’m only touching the existing closet space.

I did this exactly in one of our homes and loved the dressing room type closet . I do how hate FS tubs and I suggest you go and test getting in and out of one before committing to that . I think a nice deep soaker tub either drop in or alcove are just much beeter choices . I bathe every night and even as a teenager I hated getting in and out of our clawfoot tub

^agree -nothing wrong with creating a lovely spacious master suite, especially since there are plenty of bedrooms in the rest of the home.

(FWIW I am definitely a bit more risk adverse on bath renos (disruption, $$$, stress, so much can go wrong etc) but if it were me, I would challenge myself to take a bath in the other bathroom everytime I wanted a bath, and then see how many I took after 6 months - it would give me a good idea of whether I would really use the bath - I have tons of friends in the neighborhood with these types of tubs and their cleaners end up dusting them - but I definitely realize everyone is different)
