Help! I got a large bamboo palm about six months ago. Since then it has gotten increasingly sad. Fronds have turned brown and crispy and fallen off. Several stalks just broke off at the bottom above the soil when I touched them, as if they had softened or deteriorated near the root. Even the ones that are still healthy at the top have brown dried up leaves at the bottom.

It’s in an area with moderate indirect light. At first I thought it was too dry so started watering once a week, with a wick from the saucer at the bottom. Then I though maybe it was too wet so cut back on watering and removed the wick. But no obvious signs it’s perking up.

Any ideas on what’s going wrong? Thanks
