Summercrisp pears inconsistent fruit loads

I have 5 summercrisp pears that are several years old. This year most of the trees had little or no fruit. One had so many pears I was worried about branches breaking.


Note: we had a very dry spring (May and June with very little rain) but the trees were watered the same way and the foliage looks fine.


what would be a reason for one tree to bear heavily and other little or none?
