Ideas for entry off an elevator into flat!

I live on the top floor of a flat in San Francisco. The elevator empties out into my flat. There is a space directly in front of the elevator that I don't know what to do with! It separates the front of the flat with newly remodeled kitchen and living room from the back of the house that has two bedrooms. I don't think a seating area would work as no one will sit there when the living room has a beautiful view. I want something that looks beautiful to greet my guests but I can't figure it out. As you can tell from the photos there are two doors on the left of the space that contain a water heater and electric room that can't be permanently blocked. I am hoping to get some creative ideas!

I'd find a mural of a San Francisco view that you WOULD see, if there was a window there.

I would turn into into a library. Mix in some art, photos and objects that you personally like, but books give the feeling of a personal home, that someone has been invited in to your spot. Plus, it's a useful place to put books!

I would also invest in a wonderful antique coat tree -- why not Victorian? You've got space for it and it's useful.

What about trying a home office or library? You might be able to add built-ins if you really wanted. You could also do a yoga area or gym. Here are a few ideas for you visually:

Large foyers often have a large central round table with a big floral arrangement. Off to the side, you have room for a console table with lamps and artwork on the wall.
