Paint Color Help Please!

We would love a suggestion on a paint color that would go with my kitchen. We tried the one shown and our not liking it. It’s coming off too blue/cool for us. Any suggestions would be wonderful!

Hi! It would be super helpful to know the color you tried that you didn’t like, your trim color, cabinet color and even the color you have in the fireplace room. :)

Color in family room and kitchen is mesa tumbleweed and we tried elemental Pittsburgh paint. Cabinets and trim are white

Hi! Elemental is in the blue/green hue family and is very low chroma, so it makes sense as to why it’s coming off so blue/cold. My suggestion would be PPG Shark, which is a warmer gray. It will coordinate better with your fireplace room and should work beautifully with your floors, countertops and cabinets.

Denice, texmax13 is right on the blue/hue family, so you need a warmer and lighter tone for your kitchen. Also, the "finish" or "sheen" level is going to be important. Avoid shining surface textures, so go with a Flat/Matte or no more than a "satin" finish. Do you want to stay with the PPG paints, or are you open to Sherwin Williams? What geographical area are you located in?

Yes we love Sherwin Williams. I was thinking Passive might work but not sure.

Thank you for the ideas!! We would consider any other brand paints too but will check out shark

Denise- here is the DNA (scientific notations for a color) for SW Passive. It has an LRV of 60, so it won’t reflect much light. It’s in the green/yellow hue family so it’s pretty neutral however to me it’s too dark for your kitchen. I also think it’s cool so not warm enough for the look you might want. I will look for some options for you.

Take a look at SW Grecian Ivory. It looks like a lighter version of Mesa Tumbleweed and would be soft neutral with your kitchen. I would rethink the tile (looks like glass tile) for your backsplash though. Get painting done first then do backsplash. With your countertops I would keep it quiet. Maybe a Diamond shape but larger in white with very light gray grout. That’s all you need.

Nice combo. Have to see in your space of course.

I agree with Flo about the backspash. I’m a lot more familiar with SW than PPG, so here are a bunch of Sherwin Williams colors I would check out:

And possibly the following, but they may be too cool for your space. Won’t know till you see them with your finishes, but I have seen them look too icy/lavendar in situations so the above choices would be safer bets.
