We need to solve this issue with the rug.

We have just moved in from Virginia to Florida and we brought this lighter rug. I personally would prefer just the carpet without the rug, however our carpet is not as fluffy as we would like. Is there a way to fix the rug? Should we remove the rug? Should we wait some time and upgrade the carpet?
