I have only been doing this for ten years, and by some measures I am merely a pretender, having such a small collection. But that only means I don't have enough room for everything I would like to have, Then again, that would not be possible no matter how much room I had.

But I digress. In the preceding nine years, i have encountered a total of four proliferations; this year alone I have found five. (Remember, everything is relative.) I generally pay very little attention to reblooms because, on the rare occasions they do appear, the blooms are scant in number. This year I have six of what I would call bona fide rebloomers. Two have already finished, one just started, and the other three may bloom well into September.

Last year, while visiting my local hardware store in the spring, I spied a bag of "daylily bulbs" called "Once in a Lifetime". On a lark I bought a bag, just to see if they would bloom that year, with the intention of giving them away to my neighbors this year. Well, having planted the whole collection together in a half-barrel, I saw that doing that would be difficult and that I would have to wait until the fall and replant them in individual containers. That turned out to be a blessing, Last year only three of the four bloomed but this year they all did and put on a very pleasing display.
