FOTESS September Fun

First of all, FOTESS is a group where you would need to get in touch with me, Jeanne (sandlapper_rose) in order to join. We post some garden related swaps during the year and really try to make them fun and affordable. If you join we ask that you agree to certain rules and that you will sign up for at least several swaps a year. Let me know if you want to be considered for membership.

We did not have a volunteer to coordinate games and the swap for September, but Beth had a lovely suggestion. Here it is:

No one has signed up for September soooooo how about we each pick 5 or 6 members at random and just send a card with a brief note.

A new address list arrived recently and I think several are folks I have not seen any posts from in a very long time. I have been missing from the action I believe since before Covid started.

A pack of note cards is still less than $2.00 and even with stamps this will be a thrifty way to keep connected. I hope everyone will send at least a card or two. No need to commit or say yes or no, unless you want to post that. I sorta like the element of surprise/suspense.

Other than that, we are happy to see you post what is going on in your area, your garden, include pictures and most of all, to hear from you.

Hello Jeanne and others, we are pretty well settled in here in Virginia. As we are getting older, it wasn’t an easy project lol. I have started some gardens but mostly perennial’s from the old house. We have a beautiful overlook that I like to look at while having coffee and then late night drinks. I have a lot of hummingbirds here as well. They must be starting to migrate as they are down from a dozen to two loners. I know they will return.

I hope everyone is well and will check in to let us know how your gardens fared this year.

Annie, our Barry concert was amazing. 80 years old and he was on stage an hour and forty five with no break. I am hoping he will return to Vegas next year so we can go see him again

Great that you got to see the Manilow concert and it sounds amazing. So hot here. I had planned a "working" long weekend (it is LABOR Day), but wasn't able to do much outdoors due to the heat. There was plenty to do indoors though!

Not sure you remember me but I Started the OBF Our Best Friends Group way back when with another Lady my Memory is getting bad I can;t think of her name . its been along time .

I don't get to this sight much anymore since I started my 2 FB Groups but i would love to stop by now & again smithies i thing I got a few Japanese or siberian Irises from you a few years back that you named after your Grand babies i think. i could be wrong maybe it was another lady but thought it was you .

well i have to get busy thi morning will try to stop back again soon to you all

Looking forward to your swap, Annie. I have been so busy and totally forgot about Beth's suggestion to send out a surprise card to someone in the group during September. How do we all get so busy these days? For me at least, it's lots of "house" issues to deal with, I must have hit the age on my house when things keep needing repairs. No fun. Also, lots more doctor's appointments for me this year. I just don't let things go and schedule what needs to be checked on. Since I've joined several local clubs and signed up for classes, I keep busy with those. I'll be doing a short talk for my garden group here next week. It's a very active garden club and lots of fun.

lufurl1949, so nice to see that you posted. Stop back to visit us when you have time. Are you okay with posting your first name because I don't remember that name from GardenWeb but many of us had to change names when things changed to Houzz.

sandlapper I think i was Deejay49 maybe Sue Kohler when i left this spot just before the change over & went to Dave's Garden Then i found Facebook & started my own Groups Susie;s seed Attic & Susie;s Daylilies & Iris Buy & Sell keeps me pretty busy

Right now we are getting ready for our fall seed swap on susie's seed attic .

when I first opened the group we also did monthly trades like here but then to many of the members were not holding up thier end of trades so we sstopped the monthly & Now just Do a chrismas GIFT Exchange & fall seed swaps .

I'd Love to chime in & watch all exchange if someone can send me a invite to the new monthly . thank you for letting me go on its a cool fall day so just playing on the laptop ,

Yes, I remember you, Sue. Nice to hear from you. Just stop in whenever you like. Sounds like you are busy with your own groups now. So good that you are still interested in gardening!
