Thanks for showing your Madeira its always nice to see these long season types ripen in not so favorable climates.

Last night brought several inches of rain.

Might pick one today if ready.

Happy as all the long season types the cravens, tuscan and madeira's are now starting to ripen.

Hardy Chicago and Ischia Black are done with the figs.

Violette De Bordeaux's are still young have some figs set one has different shape leaves what i would call a negronne and the other 2 have the long finger shape leaves of which 1 came from edible landscaping where i originally bought mine so many years back.

    Will show pictures soon.

Also look forward to any pictures posted from folks.

I beat my record yesterday, that was quite a fig heaviest in my book.

We also had good summer for ripening figs, late ripeners must have heard the goose flying south they ripening faster this season. BM usually ripens this time, but De la Senyora H already ripend and that's first time this early.

Are you saying that Violette de Bordeaux doesn't get spade leaves ?

Everyone is saying that Negronne is VdB and a parently Little Miss Figgy, my question then is if my VdB does have spade leave, then it is more Negronne then VdB ? I must go and see, but I think my VdB does have spade shape leaves, can you Please comment on that.

My Old Hardy Chicago is almost done ripening too nut there are some second crop on the new branches that started on the 9 years old trunk, because I hard pruned it in February.

I too am very happy with this season although spring was quite cold, it started good but then it cooled off after I stopped shuffling, I lost all breba on Col de Dame Blanc, I lost lots of breba but not on VdB, Negronne and Little Miss Figgy.

My in ground what I originally thought is Italian Honey, turn out to be Fico Biano. I overwintered it under the teepee with W40 light bulb. All breba dropped after those cold nights except one that made it all the way to ripening. It did have good main crop, this one is done for this season too.

It's in ground fifth season, but I cut off all branches that produced this seseason and only leave this year new growth.

Never had a spade shape VdB the ones i had in the early years of growing all had the long finger leaves. I have seen the spade shape type in pictures just never had one.

Eisen seems to think Negronne and VdB were 2 separate cultivars in his writings around 1920 if memory serves correct while some other notable fig researchers tend to think they are the same.

Personally just think Negronne is in the bordeaux family like some others

Here is plant that was bought on figbid with some spade shape leaves and other leaves just not skinny long fingered ones.

Plant bought as VdB maybe a Negronne as its leaves are different than the other 2 plants shown below.

Edible Landscaping Violette De Bordeaux - no spade leaves

Local Nursery -Bought as Violette De Bordeaux seems same as Edible Landscaping plant with no spade leaves.

Thanks Martin and Anna for the wonderful pics of your harvests this season. I'm still growing a couple varieties, but have less time to tend to them or post pictures because I've become a hands-on grandfather. I still love seeing what others are able to do though, and hopefully will be able to do more next season.
