Living Room Windows Design Dilemma

I was wondering if it is okay to extend a curtain rod over a 10 ft glass patio door by 14 inches on one side and 16 inches on the other or if the difference would be noticeable? I have an issue with a wall being on one side that limits it to 14 inches but on the other side I wanted to comer up a 4 panel light switch. If I did 14 inch on each side then the light switch would be half covered which I think would look weird. Thoughts?

I don't think the difference will be noticeable at all as long as you don't pick a very sheer curtain fabric (in which case you'd be able to tell from the light shining through which part covers the glass and which covers wall).
