I think further decisions will be based on your specific needs for the space. Do you like clean minimalistic spaces? Traditional dark woods? Is this for paying bills, or for running an empire? But my default would be if in doubt, more enclosed storage.

Thanks, it will be for running a small business/personal use. I am definitely keeping the closet but want the office to be visually attractive as well as functional.

I would get rid of the french doors and add a reach in closet along the top wall instead. Then place the desk facing the door so your back is to the right hand wall.

Make the current closet built in shelving.

It depends on how you use the space. Do you need multiple screens? scanner? printer? Do you do zoom-type meetings? What kind of storage do you need, and how/how often do you need to access it?

What kind of set up do you like? For example, I like to work at a table in the middle of a space, not a desk. DH likes to be in a corner, facing the wall but able to turn and work to one side at what we used to call a return.
