They don't shrink if they are well built and of a suitable material. Where is the home? Climate wise?

What color are the walls?

I see a lot of white walls and white trim with black windows (on TV) and it looks very classic to me. They are usually tall windows. The black is perceived as an outline. Some have grids, some don’t. Will yours have black grids?

I prefer black stain to black paint, if the windows are wood.

The home is in Ontario Canada. Concerned they will make a narrow room look even smaller (shrink it).

I think if the frames are thin and there are no grids, they’ll be OK. If they are thick wood windows, I think the black will dominate. I don’t know about shrinking the room, but I wouldn’t want thick black windows anywhere.

I have never had a living room that was 18’ wide so that is not narrow to me.

On the interior, I think you can change color if you want. Not on the exterior. I think the living areas could be one color and bedrooms another. I probably would limit the colors to two.

In my house, I will probably do dark window pane frames only in the living area. In the (separate) kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms, I may paint them white. Or I may do dark on the lower level, light on the upper level. I haven’t really decided. It depends on the house and the flow. I would try to make them all the same color unless there is a really good reason to change them based on your other decor choices.
