kitchen cabinets over floor or cut back

Should kitchen flooring (engineered wood, glued to slab) be under the cabinets, or should it be cut back to fit flush with cabinets? It is a very wide galley kitchen with a small peninsula. I had damage to a couple of cabinets so some were removed (on one side only) for repair/rework and part of the floor has gone in. Now the cabinets are to go back in - some question on whether cabinets could just be placed on top of floor or if it should be cut to fit flush against cabinet. I thought there might be a buckling issue. And of course the other side is not on top of it - not a very thick floor, so probably not noticeable visually. Advice please?
