Sconces or pendants a better idea in this bathroom?

In our new home there is a hall bath, which in its current state has two vanities across from one another, then beyond a pocket door the toilet and shower. As we speak, one vanity has been removed and a laundry area is being installed, with washer and dryer and cabinetry above. At the remaining vanity we are replacing hardware with pewter knobs, will be selecting a new faucet, and replacing the "Hollywood" light fixture. We will keep the cabinetry and the sink/countertop.

If it makes sense, I would like to have two light fixtures in place of the one overhead. One possibility is wall sconces on the side walls, the other is pendant lighting. It's a bit cozy on the sink end so I'm not sure how to approach this. Words of wisdom anyone?

Measurements: vanity is 64" long x 22" deep, the "vanity room" is 64" x 85" with (I'm pretty sure) 8' ceilings.
