Black Dining table with brown chairs ?

I’m considering this dining table. Main reason is it fits my space and I love the style. It comes in white which unfortunately is not available right now. Only black. I have some very nice wood brown dining chairs that I love. Ignore chair cover, they are a family hand me down. My kitchen dining area is open concept and I have white cabinets, dark grey island and most other furniture is warm mid modern kind of light walnut colors. Wood floor. Revere Pewter walks a white trim. I want to paint the island a warm green shade so if that paints a better picture. Am I wrong to combine these chairs and the black table ?
Thanks for any advice.

I would rethink a black table unless you have other black accents.

I don't think there is any problem at all combining the slat-back shape and wood tone of the chairs with the black table, assuming you are going to re-cover the seats. (See how nice the slats look in the photo as a background for the oval table.) How the black table fits in with the rest of your surrounding decor is impossible to say without seeing more photos -- but the only thing I question based on your description is a "warm green color" for your island. Not only do I not know what is a "warm green", most green paint in kitchens lends a colonial or rural vibe, and it sounds like everything else in your house is sophisticate. The ad photo of this black table frames it as urban, with suggestions of stone and metal around it. So I don't know how your black table will look in proximity to your green island. Maybe the olive-toned jar on the table in the photo is a clue? The dark green fronds?

I think additional photos are needed. It’s difficult to conceptualize what you already. How about pics of kitchen/dining areas and any paint samples you may have. Are you keeping the chair covers? If you are going for a mid century modern look the chair cover really is not.

Fabulous chairs and they'll look great with black. (Not so great with white.) They should be easy to recover.

Wow I really appreciate the response. I really wanted white prompted by this inspiration photo. But I have a small space. I don’t like county style pedestal legs that are so common. The white of this black table isn’t available. Also the only white in my space is my cabinets. Regarding how much other black I have- none. The wood chairs are going to be recovered. They are so granny right now. My space limitation requires a 42” table and round preferred but hard to find white with more modern legs. About the island paint green color 😂 I actually winced a little when I typed “warm green”. I guess I’m thinking some green color that is subdued and moody and at this point anything but Kendall charcoal grey. Way too dark. Thanks all. I am in a definite design dilemma !

I think some new chairs are in order I sure would not like them with the white and not really ideal with the black. If going in a bit different look why not something like this and some MCM chairs

Hmm I’ll have to give that some thought. Thanks!

I love the chairs (with a new fabric) they would look great with that table in Black, even if you don't have any other black. Black is a great resting color.

as far as the warm green tones... here are some SW great greens.

Lyn you got me ! Thank you so much. I guess I have a theme going in my head. I do have a rural spot here in a small town north of San Francisco. My home and property is a blend of west elmish meets a smattering of family antiques. The greens you shared are amazing!! I’m possibly going to a white wall house instead of all revere pewter and Edgecomb grey that I did back in 2013. Wonder if I should leave the walls alone 🤔 decisions..!
but currently the big push is for a dining table and new color for the island. I am leaning toward green because it’s a dark abyss in my right now. Definitely no more white. I have river white granite island and other counter surfaces so hope I can pull off a shade of green. Thanks for your response!

What is the finish on the black table? A painted surface? I have a black table and chairs from Bassett and have come to absolutely hate them. It scratches, dulls, nothing helps I've tried dark polish, shoe polish....only solution the store had was to and have it refinished. Not happening. Should have put a glass top on in at the very beginning. Beware!

I generally like black and brown together. I have a brown table and black chairs. While I do thnk the color combination is great, I don't think the style of the table fits the chairs.

Where is the table from? Sometimes if you google the SKU number you can find someone else selling it and they might have white.

My note of caution: I once got a white oval table online that was "whitewashed" that was completely disappointing when I got it. In fact, it now sits in the garage as a utliity table. I had similar space contraints and ended up with a vintage table that was off-standard size and it was great so you might check out that.

I do like that black table with your chairs. Just pointing out other options.

I am not suggesting this white table, I'm simply giving you an idea of how the chairs would look next to white. I don't think either table is the right fit.

I found these using google image:

This set of six dining chairs was produced by G-Plan in the United Kingdom circa 1960. It was designed by Leslie Dandy. The frames are made of teak. Style is mid-century Danish.

    $1200.00 for set of 6.

    $1700.00 for this set.

The seats on this set are black leather (no vinyl). Thinking the black would be true to the design and look great with the black table.

    Put the green in art.

This is a print from etsy, art prints, Danish, very inexpensive. You frame:

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/999606962/ocean-print-seascape-danish-art-prints

Check out Dansk on etsy for accents.

This style was "ours", the 60's. Harvard Square was our place to shop.

Add some Marrimeko fabric, even if just table napkins.

You are so blessed to have the chairs.

I still have a Dansk ice server with tongs...after all these years it still gets compliments.

These sure look my chairs but I don’t know if they are the same .. maybe ? Kind of a story- I fell madly in love with a gorgeous wood antique table and chairs on FB marketplace but the table was 47”. Sad. Won’t fit. Then the woman said come get the chairs. For free. I drove the two hours and now they are home looking for the right table. I’m thinking all your advice is right that the chairs don’t fit that West Elm table. The table is black matte according to the description. So I keep searching for the right table and so far no luck. I like the one on Chairish. I check Chairish for more local stuff to me as well.

Perhaps if you post the table from FB we can help you find one that will fit.

Wow yes the seats covered in black would be so nice.

This is the table FB post photo. It was needing some love for sure but it was 100$ (gasp) and I was going to bring it back to life. Of course I have the lovely chairs now🙂
I’ve seen many others that are beyond swoon worthy but they are a long boat ride away in Poland or the UK so not in the budget.
