Best placement for dining table

Hello! I am looking for advice on furniture placement for my new construction build home. My wife and I are kind of unsure of how the dining table should be placed. The electricians will be there this week to add the chandelier above the table and want to make sure it’s in the best configuration. I added a picture of how we thought to place it.

Any help would be appreciated!

A floor plan would be a better method. Center on the slider window and add 36 inches behind the table and add the inches to center on the table itself.

A better table choice at some point ? Maybe a round At 48 to 54 inches. You look a bit crowded

Given the staircase and sliding door, the space on either side may not be wide enough (have you tested with chairs pulled out also). Are you open to placing table vertically, as it will affect chandelier placement, so an important decision.

If a longer table is needed down the road, it can be accommodated and lighting will still work.

^agree, i would be tempted to mimic the direction of the island

Hi, I would definitely try the placement with chairs I feel like there wont be enough space and in a way placing the table like this will cut off the open space. Turning it the other way would make more sense to me it, the room will flow better with the island and table turned the same way and you won't cut off the space. Also if you are planning on getting a longer chandelier that is rectangular I think it would look a lot better this way.

The bars at the bottom of the table ends mean that no one can sit comfortably and eat at either end of the table, and a chair can't slide under the table. If you only plan to have 4 people eating at the same time, it would make sense to get a smaller table, and in particular place it away from the stairwell.

If you are thinking you need six chairs for six people, you should get another table entirely, and a round one would probably be best.

Since you probably don't have time to get a new table before the electrician arrives, use painter's tape on the floor and boxes to map out where to center a new table -- or just bite the bullet on telling the electricians this week not to wire for a chandelier at all, and pay one to come back when you've figured it out. You'll probably want an electrician back anyway after you've moved in.

Thanks for all of the feedback! here is a picture of the table flipped and running with the island.

Was thinking along these lines for a chandelier.

It's a pretty table but only seating for four? Is that enough? I'd wait on the electrician until you really figure this out...maybe you need a larger table?

Turn the table to run the same as the island. Get a light fixture thta lights the table not the ceiling and also much better lighting for that area I think you better add more lighting everywhere in that kitchen too..

I like the table running the same as the counter. The other way, it narrows the pass way at the top of the stairs….an accident waiting to happen. Compliments on a lovely home.

It blocks the slider - is that really where it should go?
