Black or white windows?!?!

Our home was built in 1988, and has kind of an ugly brown brick front. The rest of the house currently is a tan siding. We are getting a new roof, new siding, and new windows. I’m really stuck on trying to figure out what color pallet would work best with the brick, as that is unfortunately staying.

The biggest question is: Black or white windows?

But also… What color siding and roof would work? Can I do grays? Or do I have to stay with browns?

Thank you so much!!

Also, I have considered staining the brick a different color. Does anyone have experience doing that? Any suggestions?! Thank you 😊

If you are keeping your brick: I ^ agree with re: to windows, neither black or white is right.. Your brick has a lot of pattern so I would look at roof shingles that are not variegated -

if you wanted to downplay the brick you could look at Romabio

There are a lot of decisions in the mix so I would figure out your brick first as it drives the bus

Yes, to bronze windows. Consider red trim.

I know a lot of people are becoming tired of painted brick but IMO your house would benefit being painted. You obviously aren't fond of it as you referred to it as "ugly". Black windows with white painted brick would give your house some contrast and depth. If you leave the brick I would suggest white windows.

What kind of tree is that and how far is it from the house?

The picture makes me think that it is much too close and that the first order of business would be to remove it and plant another tree farther out into the lawn area.

" Black windows with white painted brick would give your house some contrast and depth. "

My feelings on that are two sterile and stark, just no real interest unless the home were designed for that look as opposed to being forced into that box. Just my .02. Red Trim would look awesome in my opinion with the brick and dark bronze windows.

    Neither.

Get all together before a decision. The roof is prominent......you hate the brick.....

Go to a dedicated building supply - more help there than big box, and you must take all selections close to the brick. I'm not anti wash - but in no way can that house be white with black.

I like the brick but not the color of the roof with thta brick I also thing bronze windows work best with the brick and there is no way in hell I would paint that house white with black windows .IMO painting brick instantly devalues oyur home if you want maodern farmhouse go shopping for a new home. I think the roof color is what is wrong so find a roof that works with the brick and to even begin to help I need a close up of the brick. So post a close up here in a comment and also the name of the comapny who you want to get the roofing from. POst all here DO NOT start another post. I agree seeing the entry would be ahuge plus too.

To me it just looks too dark overall. So when looking at roof colors look for something lighter than the current color. As others have said, the current shade isn't quite right. Some manufacturers have a color called "Weathered Wood." Maybe that would work. We really need to see a closer up picture of the brick. Then I would paint the garage doors a lighter color - pull a color from the brick. Bronze windows. Go down the path of not painting or white-washing the brick until or unless you decide you just can't work with it. Once you do something to brick it is no longer a no maintenance surface.

Thank you for all of the feedback! Bronze windows seems like the way to go.

Agreed that we don’t want to paint it. From everything I’ve read, it leads to major water issues. If we were to do anything to the brick, I think we would stain them.

Here’s a closeup of the brick and front door. We also need a new front door, or at least a refresh.

    Thanks again for everyone’s input!!

Get rid of the tree. The brick is great, leave it alone. Change the color of the grout if you are unhappy. That is cheap to do (don't grind the grout out, just apply grout colorant). Roof seems ok to me. The garage door is wrong color in my opinion.
