Agree that hemming the panels for a neater finish will help - also since your rods are hung up so high, it might be nice if they blended with the wall and your eye didn't go to them since they are pretty high contrast with the wall color

I like the woven blinds and curtains, but would use an adjustable, continuous curtain rod. You’d need to buy more panels so they look fuller …

And I’d hem the curtains so they don’t puddle … but that’s just personal preference. With pets, the ones I used to have were a fur magnet.

I think the puddling of the drapes is making it feel busy; pin them to see if it helps. I like the blinds though.

I agree w/Maureen. the drapes seem heavy and 'sloppy'.

(I feel like the width needs to be expanded a bit too. they seem so close to the window. At least on this one window it does)

I agree with most comments. I like the woven blinds - they tie in nicely to the woven chair seats. Rod color looks like it matches the chandelier. I also don’t personally care for puddled drapes & would either hem yours or raise rods to just at ceiling level if that was enough height for drapes. Although, the current height of rods is good so maybe just do the hem. Beth shows you what they’d look like hung closer to ceiling. I’d like a fuller look to panels & pull them more off each window for a more lux look. Jilly shows you how to do that look. If you don’t want to buy a new rod & yours can be extended, you might be able to take the ball finial off the insides of each rod & maybe butt the ends to each other & they could be covered with the drapery panel? Or, maybe there’s a connector piece available for the corners? The end finials would stay.

I agree there is too much going on. You have wonderful windows, going so far down to the floor like that. The blinds just chop them up.

I'd invest in a bay window or curved curtain rod. (Continuous). That way you'd have much more flexibility about having the drapes competely open when you feel like it, or bringing over just one panel or 2 to cover a window when you don't want sunlight blasting directly into the room from one window. If you had that flexibility, you might not need the blinds.

I'd also hang the curtains from rings with clips rather than thread them through the rod. (or are they pinch pleats?) I think they'd hang better and look breezier hanging from clips. If you can do that, see how you feel about hemming them. I'm undecided about whether it would be better.

I see the dog likes it but do you need the carpet/rug? It doesn't fit the space. I think it also makes the puddling of the drapes a visual problem.

The curtain rods should be higher, to just under the ceiling. The higher the curtain rod, the higher the ceiling looks. Just as in @la_la Girl's photo above, and most of Beth's photos above. If you raised the rods higher, you would not need to hem the curtains - which are too long right now.

she already has plenty of height. she doesn't need to touch the ceiling.

There shouldn't be two feet of space between the top and the ceiling. She has the perfect spacing as it is.

PS: After you get a continuous curtain rod, one thing you can do before you decide whether to hem the drapes is to find a length of wide ribbon or some cord and then grab 2 panels of the curtain to bunch them together and hitch them up so the hems come off the floor. You'll get a fat balloning top and stem-like lower half. Tie it up that way with a slip-knot or bow. Do it where the drapes fall between the windows. The casual romantic look might work for you and then you don't have to hem the curtains. Put simple hooks on the wall so you have someplace to hang the cinch when you want to untie the knot and cover a window with fabric.

Well, right before I posted this I was asking my husband what he thought of the blinds and I told him I really needed to get around to hemming those drapes. I guess everyone agrees, haha.

I think they look great and will be even better once you hem them. You have the curtains pushed out to the edge of the windows. Play with having them cover a bit more of the window. I'd be too cheap and way too lazy to shop for new continuous curtain rods. It will make some difference, but not big enough of a difference to justify the money and effort.

IMO puddled drapse are kind of formal and IMO bamboo blinds are great outside . You could do really nice solar shades to control the light and the heat and keep whatever view you might have. I really dislike bamboo shsdes inside except maybe for a cabin. The drapes need a good ironing and hemming to even think about making this work

I see nothing wrong with your rods. Hemming the curtains will make a big difference. I’m not sure you are wanting to install a continuous rod……not sure the cost of that. Perhaps steaming them would help give a cleaner look. I absolutely see no need to install a bay window.

Getting a continuous rod will give you more flexibility for using the drapes and arranging them against the incoming light. And a continuous rod will also reduce the visual clutter of having so many finials up against each other. But it's up to you. I don't what the cost is either.

I was going to say the blinds look good but the curtains are throwing me off. maybe pin the hem to see if it looks better to you.
