Need help - where will the dining table fit!

Please note: I have used cooktop on island before and love it, its a personal preference.

Jan Moyer - You so rude! I see your posts on here in multiple discussions and all you do is put people down. Your comments don't help but rather be belligerent and in such manner that is appalling. You obviously need a different hobby because you are not adding any value here!

Dimply - I think your table would need to go in front of the barstools. Probably go with a rectangle that has bench seating so that you can tuck the benches in and add space on each side of the table. Do you need a table for everyday? If not, maybe you can use the barstool area on a regular day-to-day and then bring in a table for special occasions. Good luck!

It's not a "hobby", Bonnie. It's decades of successful homes, and kitchen and baths WITHIN those homes. Paid for. Advice and design paid for. I wasn't "rude" I am stating fact and seeing a not fully informative floor plan, because it isn't the entire plan. I'm certain you can tell us where the main entry to the home is located? Given we seem to be seeing only the garage entry.

Your tone is very rude. Please take some constructive critism because your comment is not helping but discouraging. People should be uplifting and helping others - you do the opposite by telling this person that there is everything wrong with their home. That's great that your a professional but nobody cares if you treat them with such little respect.

Maybe this layout could work for the space. I'm having a hard time understanding what the architect's vision was for this layout.

Beverly shows the issue. Which is why I asked for the whole plan. She said it better? Okay and mea culpa.

" I'm having a hard time understanding what the architect's vision was for this layout."

She's showing it. A vacuous space will be somewhere. Or post the entirety. so we can BOTH better understand the entire condition.

Hi, it would be nice to see the whole layout of your home to get a better feel of the space. I'm not sure about the size of your family and how much space you would like to have in the living area and how large of a table you would like to have with how many seating spaces, that type of information would definitely help give the best possible advise. Looking at what we have here I think it would look nice to have a rectangular table parallel to the island I think the space would have a nice flow. In case you decide to put it on the left side of the living space I would steel keep it rectangular and just separate the space with a long sofa.

@Ariana Designs @Bonnie D Here is the whole plan. I do plan to use the area infront if the bar as a small playarea, unless thats the only place the dining table will look good. We are a family fo 4 ( small kids) but do have grandparents visiting so a table will be nice. We need to purchase a table so looking for suggestions.

This is an old house we brought and looking to understand where things will fit. The entry to the house is beside the fridge past the window.

None of us means to be dense, I don't. Yes, we see the rest of the kitchen area...

Here's what we don't know. It seems you're planning a new kitchen within an old house? where is the main street front entry ? To the right of the fridge just past the sliders? There's a laundry behind the fridge wall? Or there was in the other picture you posted?

Even a rough sketch, with the adjacent areas would be helpful. But we're looking to understand as well. Sorry,

Personally I love it when people channel Sophie. 😘 Sigh...

You’ve got so many pros in here, enjoy! They are the BEST.

It’s weird when people get offended by @Jan_Moyer bc she literally cares so much and will give you great advice.
As a side note, I paid for kitchen designers and designers…and you know who left a lasting impression with my kitchen design…Jan.

Good luck with your design and I think a round table would be wonderful in the spot suggested! Actually the whole layout is perfect!!

Ok wait, layout of dining table and living room looks good but if the kitchen layout is up for discussion…I think you can definitely make it an easier flow for you and your fam bam. I’ll leave it to the pros…but trust me on this. You don’t need kind (that’s what friends are for)…here you need brutal honesty so you’re happy in the end.

@tozmo1 …. Agree, I would scroll thru the comments hoping I would find hers. I’ve learned a lot on here reading the ”pro’s” comments ( well, most of them, I’m not sure what the criteria is to call oneself a ”pro”, but I have my doubts about a few, just saying ). NOT Jan or Beverly though.

Here, obviously, if you have a table that will fit in this spot. This leaves the most room for other activities in this wide-open plan.

By the way, this is not FB where your friends gush and simply loooove all your ideas. This is a worldwide forum with many knowledgeable folks who will tell you the plain truth, sometimes bluntly to be sure. No sugarcoating here. (Is this your first time here, Bonnie?)

You do not have to be syrupy, but you can be nice. I would not post a question on here if you paid me, because of the so called pros that think they have to rip everything, do NOT read the post and answer every thing EXCEPT what was asked.

No kidding I'd be thrilled with some of the help these people provide FOR FREE on their own time. I learn a lot here from the pros.
