They're both modern and the new isn't any more organic, frankly.

You're just saying you're tired of black and gray. what you want to be rid of is cold and sterile. It's a feel, not just a sectional/chaise or even its color.

Its wood warmth, texture, organic life....changing up and mixing materials. Wood, stone, tactile fabrics . Linen. velvet. leather, suede and on an on. It's touch me.

I'm sure what you are asking here. If you should go with a white modern look? Four years is a pretty short time to live with something. This time around I'd go with something you can image living with for longer. Also you current sofa looks incredibly uncomfortable. Is it? Are you trying these sofas in person or just going for looks online?

I'd much rather a cocktail table / end table next to the sofa than a sculptural perch.

The new pictures are beatiful. with that said, there are small things you can change to get a different/ better feel. if you want to keep the couch to save money, you can totally switch out the rug, wall decor and color scheme to completely change the look. the fluffy dark rug would be my first change. maybe find something lighter/neutral. neutral and enhanced pillows on the couch. end table instead of sculpture. change the wall decor to a lighter wood or a mirror. your current couch can totally look good in the room, its the surrounding decor that will make a huge difference

Also, you can bring in curtains to help add texture and warmth.

Sorry but I see nothing more organic with the second choice and for sure still very modern . I like your sofa better in the first pic too. So many ways to change from ultra moden to something less so. New art , drapes a new rug and no fake plants all would take you away from the look you have now for a lot less money .

Not saying this is the vibe you want, but you can see from pictures like this (I just searched black leather couch living room on Pinterest) that you can bring wood and lighter decor in that make the black leather couch seem less modern and more cozy. My advice is stay away from any fuzzy rugs. Not only do they scream 80s vibes, but they are so hard to keep clean!

Play around with the sofa first. It's a big ticket item, so it would be worth trying to work in other accents to get a warmer feel.

Start by working with the sofa and rug. Remove the floor vase with the fake leaves, the wall decorative object, the pillow and the gnome doll.

Add a contemporary wood side table and wood coffee table with curves, not angles. Add a big live plant near the window.

Then find a painting you love. Something with character, not just wall decor.
