Are you conflating Cecilia with the Lumineers? Both good choices.

Leaves look alittle off to me for bicolor (not quite wide enough in the middle) -- I might guess a bicolor hybrid, with what, hard to say. The acorn looks close to bicolor, so maybe a hybrid backcrossed to bicolor?

How about the CECILIA tree? It sure looks like they are having a good time, thanks for the chuckle.

I saw a nice recently planted cultivar of Q bicolor at my work this past week. Beng, the plant in question might very well be a backcross of some flavor, but most oaks tend to be quite variable.

T. storm Ophelia has left my area and good riddance.

I agree with Q. bicolor. Stalked acorns are often born in pairs but as in this case both acorns don't always develop. White on leaf underside is also a strong clue.

The tree in my OP has an interesting back story. It is surrounded by a housing development. 50 years ago town planners had the good judgement to preserve the tree by creating a mini-park or picnic area. Today the tree towers over all others.
