How about a tweed or a stripe? If she's leaning toward another solid, maybe tone on tone?

I'd probably do a tweed or another subtle print that reads solid. Or a gingham! Gingham and floral can look great together.

The choice would obviously depend on the colors of the print, the sofa, and the scale of the print. IMO, if a pillow from the new chair looks good on the wing chair and the sofa it will be a win.

I'm sorry that I didn't make this clear.

I meant what other type of chair can pair with a wing chair?

A tub chair would work.

I would try to match the style of the sofa. Or maybe a modified wing style

Any chair with a higher back would probably look fine to balance the wing chair. For color, if there is another color from the floral that can be used as an accent in the room, that'd be fine too along with a stripe, check or small geometric.

It depends on the whole room and decor scheme, and purpose (reading/lounging, extra guest seating, for looks, etc), but generally I think just about any kind of chair can go with a wing chair.

Oly, I love that chair.

I would want another chair with a relatively high back to balance the wing chair.

My friend was thinking of keeping simple by using the same fabric as her sifa.

The print on the wing is bossy and is the star.

A leather chair.

Mainly keep the height the same or very close..

I wouldn't do the same fabric as the sofa. But that's just me, maybe. There are so many great fabrics out there.

If it's a room that's going to be used a lot and needs comfortable seating, I'd choose an upholstered armchair. they're my favorites.

Only if they're made like the one below where there's real padding for the arms, and notice the legs of the chair? I'm not sure why chairs and sofas are now made with thin woody arms and stick like legs.

The pattern on the chair is gorgeous and understated at the same time and shouldn't draw attention away from the star. :)
