backsplash uneven install - again

Kitchen backsplash installed (arabesque style) looks uneven in spacing between the tiles which will cause grout lines to be different widths and some tiles were laid crooked. Some tiles don’t align with the top or bottom end points. Does this look like a professional install?
Is it reasonable to ask the contractor to reinstall this backsplash to be more aligned?
Backstory: I had asked my contractor to make sure he hired a professional to install this backsplash. This is after his crew previously poorly installed an expensive marble backsplash where he blamed the nature of the geometric marble shapes being the reason of unevenness and excess grout. In trying to “repair” the marble they started breaking it in sections which made it worse. This time I thought an arabesque solid porcelain tile would be easier to install vs the geometric marble.
After breaking the marble backsplash he did cover the cost of the labor and arabesque tile for this install but his cost is still not near what I paid for the previous marble.
Is it fair to ask the contractor to reinstall this arabesque tile again to have even grout lines and connecting tiles?

Where these mesh mounted or individual tiles?

I can see a few places where the grout lines differ in thickness, but I had to look. Honestly? No one is going to notice, and when your hood is hanging that section won't even be visible. But why is there a hole between the upper and lower cabinets on the right? Is that a busted tile? If so that needs to be fixed, but the rest of it I'd probably just leave it alone.

I’d be going with a matching color grout, and then the slight imperfections will disappear.

@chispa Yes, they were mesh mounted tiles

@mxk3 z5b_MI , the hole is for the pot filler fixture. between upper and lower cabinets

I'm having trouble finding even slight imperfections. Could you be a little sensitive to the results having been once burned? I think maybe an overreaction, it really looks quite good. I hope you love it when finished, and will come back with your completed project photos to share.

Mesh mounted ”hadmade irregular” type tile doesn't get better than that.

I think it looks fine and I do not see the issues you speak of either.

Just dont do a dark grout

I'm pretty OCD and I am happy with this work.

The tiles are on mesh this is what you get, it’s not perfect but construction seldom is. It’s laid flat so it’s laid correctly. The spacing is minimal in imperfection. It’s ok

It looks fine to me. Have it grouted in a matching grout.

The tile guy isn't the best with layout or installation, but as long as you do a grout that matches the tile it should blend in.

Mesh mounted tiles sometimes need to have pieces removed and re-positioned. Some tiles come poorly positioned on the mesh from the factory and a good tile guy will notice and make adjustments as necessary ... yours didn't.

What type of hood is going in there? I don't like that he didn't center the tiles on the hood area, so you see different cuts on the side cabinets, which is the most visible, eye-level area. The tile guys I have used would never do this.

How are your edges being finished? Schluter or a pencil liner should have been planned from the start, as you don't just stick those on at the end ... Schluter because it goes under the edge of the tile and pencil liners because they are usually thicker and you need to account for that as you lay the field tile.

Does no one get any training these days?

Construction lead said it would be a thin grout on the edges. He said a bullnose isn’t available for the 1/4” tile thickness.

Do color match grout and move on, looks great! When you start looking for problems...you usually find some...

As chispa said, they should have centered it in the hood area. A top shelf installer would have. Once the hood is in there, you won't notice. Before you move on to more tile installations in your house (floor for example or bathrooms), you might want to find a better tiler. It is not bad, it is just not at the level that you want. So get someone who is going forward.
